Here is a list of things that we would like to get done.
Make sure you also read the HowToContribute page.
For the Wiki:
- Add a new page for i586 support
- Add a section for Hardware Feedback Report's, where people can report on success / failure with specific hardware and any specific info required, we seem to really need something like this for the new sata raid cards and some other usb / firewire devices that need more than just kernel modules.
The stub for the Hardware List is there, the problem is: How do people request hardware problem reports for that page? At them moment I'll have them send a mail to ralph+centoswiki@strg-alt-entf.org, but that is not a long term solution - even if they use the submit form I built for the page.
- Wiki Template for submission is there. Now to figure out on how to give people access to only that part of the page ...
- Add page for Hosting control panels - we seem to get a lot of people asking about them
- Do we need a list of panels first or should we directly say "Ask them first"?
- how about this list ?
- cPanel
- We get the most questions about this one.
cpanel actively makes changes to CentOS, so we should tell people to ask them first, if yum installs behave strangely.
- Plesk
- webmin
- At least put some advice there (like "Get webmin from dag, the RPM from webmin.tld is broken").
- Direct Admin
- cPanel
- I suppose the next question might be - should we try get someone from 'upstream' maintain their own pages w.r.t these Panels?
Would be a great idea for cpanel. But cpMatt hasn't been seen for a long time now
- Add pages for nvidia / ati support ? maybe a howto for each ?
Should be put into the HardwareList. If sh ./install.bin is enough, I'll give it a shot later on.
- ATI is there. I cannot do nvidia at the moment, as I cannot stop X on my nvidia machine (which is at work).
- Add page about running yum on various RHEL distro's and if possible a migration path. It seems to be question asked often.
For the Website:
- Create layout for the docs sections
For the Project:
- Sparc Maintainers: Pasi is no longer able to maintain the CentOS-4/sparc tree ( he already does loads for the distro ), so we need someone to take over the role of Sparc-Maint.
- DeltaRPM support: We need someone who would like to grab the issue, do the testing, workout whats involved and then try and come up with an implementation plan ? Would be good if you already knew how yum and repomd type repositories worked. yum-presto is an option that seems the most likely candidate, so if you are involved with the yum-presto development that would be great!
Anything else:
- Graphic Designer : we need someone to help with the Distro Graphics
- Website designer : someone with a bit of experience and artistic ability to help in two stages
- Design a skin / help implement a new skin for the present website
- Look at content consolidation on the website and/or transition to a different system(!)?
- It may be worth considering to make it "protected wiki"-driven?
