2.1. Installation

Describe here how you performed the installation, what problems you had during the installation and what solved them.

2.2. Post-installation notes

Describe here what worked by default

Indicate if the following work with a standard install, took some additional effort, don't work or don't know. You can use lspci to collect information as to specific items present in your laptop. If your laptop doesn't have a particular item, just indicate "not present".

2.2.1. Video

Describe additional post-installation steps for making video work:

The problem with the default installation vesa driver was:

- I was not able of configuring the 1366x768 resolution of my display.

- I was not able of configuring dual head display.

To obtainig the full functionality, I installed de fglrx driver (see below a lot of interesting links). The process:

1- Download the fglrx driver from the ATI site: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

2- Execute it as root:

# sh ati-driver-installer-9-9-x86.x86_64.run

3- I selected the following options:

4- Install it:

[root@cien ~]# cd /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/x86_64/
[root@cien ~]#
[/usr/src/redhat/RPMS/x86_64]# rpm -Uvh fglrx64_7_1_0-8.64-1.x86_64.rpm
Preparando... ########################################### [100%]
  1:fglrx64_7_1_0 ########################################### [100%]

5- Use the aticonfig tool for configuring the X11 server:

[root@cien ~]# aticonfig --initial

[root@cien ~]# aticonfig --initial=dual-head --desktop-setup=horizontal

6- Reboot

2.2.2. Sound

Describe additional post-installation steps for making Sound work:

The sound did't work with the default installation. What I did for give it up, was:

1- Install and configure de yum prioriities: http://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/Priorities

2- Install the ElRepo repo:

3- Configure the priority for elrepo repo (I configured it with the value 5)

4- Install the kmod-alsa package drivers from elrepo:

[root@cien ~]# yum install kmod-alsa.x86_64

5- Reboot the laptop

6- Don't forget disabling the mutes... :) https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23757
