2. CentOS-5

2.1. Installation

It is necessary to boot with the acpi=off option for the kernel. If you don't, you will get an Oops at bootup. The install works as normal, but you won't see the second CPU while ACPI is turned off. Once you are booted into CentOS, a custom kernel can get you up and running with two cpu's.

2.2.1. Wireless

  1. Download the [javascript:void(0);/*1264295105514*/ Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA driver] and unpack it somewhere.
  2. Edit the file src/include/typedefs.h and change the following lines:
    #if (LINUX_VERSION_CODE >= KERNEL_VERSION(2, 6, 19))
    #define TYPEDEF_BOOL
    #endif

and change to:

I haven't tried CentOS 4 with this laptop (yet).
